Tassie’s own folk-pop storyteller and genre-bending duo

Festival of Voices and the Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (YARC) proudly present an evening of emerging Tasmanian talent, featuring folk-pop storyteller Mia Barron and genre-bending duo Isle Two.

Mia Barron brings her calm, heartfelt songwriting to the stage, weaving personal stories with a gentle folk-pop sound. Influenced by artists such as Gracie Abrams, Searows and Noah Kahan, her music captures moments of change, connection and vulnerability. After releasing her debut EP Pages Unfolding in 2024, Mia is preparing to launch Faded Annotations in May 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in her work.

Sharing the bill is Isle Two, an uncompromisingly original duo emerging from Tasmania’s southern shores. Joe Vere and Jasper Szypura create a bold, evolving sound shaped by a wide mix of influences. Their debut single Penny questions whether the idea of a “perfect person” can ever exist, offering an intriguing first glimpse into a project grounded in curiosity and creative fearlessness. With more music on the way, Isle Two are steadily building momentum.

This special collaboration highlights two distinct voices from Tasmania’s next generation of artists. It’s an intimate, inspiring night for anyone who enjoys fresh songwriting, thoughtful storytelling and the thrill of discovering new music.

Salamanca@6 is an event series added to the Festival of Voices 2026 program, celebrating emerging and early-career singers and ensembles who are helping shape the future of Tasmanian music. At 6 pm on selected evenings during the festival, audiences are invited to the Peacock Theatre to discover fresh voices, original ideas and the next wave of local talent. It’s a welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and artists have the chance to share new work with an audience.

By offering a range of performers the opportunity to present their work as part of Tasmania’s longest-running winter festival, Salamanca@6 supports the development of aspiring vocalists while giving audiences the chance to experience something vibrant, immediate and full of possibility. Every performance is different, with each artist bringing their own style, story and perspective. Together, these events showcase the depth of Tasmanian talent and the simple power of song to bring people together.
