Experience jewellery that transforms in your hands—where modular 3D-printed components invite you to carry less and create more

Sharka Bosakova : Carry Less, Create More – Any Way, Shape or Form

Contemporary jewellery stands at a crossroads between tradition and innovation, between static beauty and dynamic function. Sharka Bosakova’s 3D/OVA collection navigates this intersection with remarkable clarity, proposing a fundamental shift in how we conceive, create, and interact with wearable objects. Her work transcends conventional jewellery design by embracing transformation as both aesthetic principle and philosophical stance.

Bosakova’s artistic practice centers on kinetic forms where objects possess multiple functions and appearances, encouraging physical engagement and individual creative expression. This approach reflects her belief that creating objects serves as a form of communication—a way to connect with others and open dialogues across disciplines and cultures. Her jewellery becomes a collaborative medium, inviting wearers to participate actively in the creative process rather than simply displaying finished works.

The 3D/OVA collection emerges from a deep engagement with the Japanese aesthetic principle of Mottainai—a reverence for materials that embraces sustainability and mourns waste. This philosophy permeates every aspect of Bosakova’s practice, informing not only her jewellery design but extending to her broader work in sustainable fashion. Each piece reflects conscious consideration of material lifecycle and modular principles, where every element serves multiple purposes and nothing remains superfluous.

At the heart of the collection lies an exploration of organic, cellular forms inspired by microscopic biological structures. Bosakova translates the intricate patterns of cellular growth and ovum shapes into wearable sculptures that symbolize creation, potential, and the feminine. These biological inspirations speak to fundamental themes of transformation and renewal, suggesting that jewellery, like living organisms, can evolve and adapt rather than remaining static.

The revolutionary aspect of Bosakova’s work lies in its modular design philosophy. Using biodegradable plant-based filaments and recycled metals, she creates jewellery systems that transform through magnetic connections and interlocking components. A single brooch separates into earrings, necklaces extend or contract according to need, and components combine across different pieces to create entirely new configurations. This kinetic approach embodies her core philosophy of “carry less, create more,” where one versatile system replaces multiple static accessories.

The collection addresses pressing contemporary concerns about consumption and sustainability. In an era of fast fashion and disposable culture, Bosakova proposes jewellery that adapts rather than becomes obsolete. Her sustainable approach encompasses the entire lifecycle of each piece—from material selection through design philosophy to end-of-life considerations. The work offers minimalist luxury through maximalist adaptability, where quality lies not in quantity but in thoughtful design that serves multiple functions over extended periods.

The interactive nature of the 3D/OVA collection fundamentally redefines the relationship between wearer and worn object. Each piece invites physical engagement, transforming wearers into co-creators who reconfigure elements to suit their mood, outfit, or occasion. This participatory approach challenges the traditional passivity of jewellery wearing, instead creating dynamic relationships where touch and manipulation reveal new possibilities with each interaction. The jewellery becomes a toolkit for personal expression, where individual creativity shapes the final aesthetic outcome.

Bosakova’s work in design has garnered international recognition across diverse platforms, from DEBUT Melbourne to Mercedes Benz Fashion Festivals in both Brisbane and Prague and HEAD ON New York. Her achievements include being named as an Outstanding Graduate from Queensland University of Technology’s Alumni Honour Roll in 2015, and works from her recent project UnMasked have been selected as finalists in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize and the Brisbane Portrait Prize.

This year marks a significant milestone as her work has been selected for showcase at the Australia Pavilion VIP Event at Osaka Expo 2025, bringing her innovative approach to a global stage. Her work has found resonance with international audiences who appreciate the fusion of cutting-edge innovation with mindful interaction. Based in Brisbane, Bosakova’s practice positions contemporary jewellery within a global conversation about sustainable luxury and meaningful consumption, demonstrating how local makers can address universal concerns through thoughtful, culturally-informed design that bridges Eastern and Western aesthetic philosophies.

Her modular systems suggest a future where our accessories evolve with us, responding to our changing needs while respecting the materials that make transformation possible.
