‘These Hands of Mine’ explores the complexities of human emotion through body language and gesture in portraiture.

โ€“โ€“โ€“โ€“โ€“

Zoe Lovell captures the subtle ways in which we communicate, revealing emotions that words may fail to convey. Each painting depicts a moment, inviting the viewer to interpret the emotional subtext through nuanced cues.

The artist highlights certain movements and body parts through each painting, cropping in on certain areas, such as the face, hands, back and torso. The aim is not to present one single emotion through the body of artwork, but rather, portray a wide spectrum of feeling and expression throughout the entire series.

This body of work gives a glimpse into the hidden feelings of the sitter, allowing the viewer to interpret moments of reflection and vulnerability in their most physical forms.
