The next morning, Michael and Lin will collaborate in an improvised and site responsive performance in the Salamanca Arts Centre Courtyard at 10am and again at 11am (weather permitting). Both events are free, and all are welcome to attend.

About the Artists:

Michael Reinhart is a graduate of The Ontario College of Art, has wide & varied experience in the world’s interdisciplinary/visual art, music, film & performance, with choreographers, dancers, poets, musicians & directors in Canada, New York & Europe. With long-time collaborator Lin Snelling, Michael has collaborated on several projects since 1982. Among them are the choreography/document ‘extinction’ (2004) & ‘Woman As Landscape’ (1999-2000), produced by Carbone 14 at Usine C. More recently he collaborated in Performing Book at the AGA in Edmonton. Michael has released five original albums, the two most recent being ‘Cyprus Songs’ (2011) & ‘eCHO’ (2013). He improvises sporadically in the trio Status Quoi with Jérémi Roy, David Ryshpan, along with various invited artists.

Lin Snelling is a dancer whose artistic practice brings the qualities of improvisation into dance, theatre, writing, visual art, and somatic practice. She toured the world with Quebecois dance/theatre troupe Carbone 14 and worked with many improvisation ensembles. Lin created Rewriting Distance with dramaturg Guy Cools that toured extensively through Europe and Canada. Recently she collaborated in a durational performance moving in real time with Shelagh Keeley’s #FilmNotebooks 1985–2017 at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto. Her recent dance collaborations include Far Away and Personal, a dance film with long-time collaborator musician/composer Michael Reinhart and ENTRANCES with writer David Gagnon Walker and multimedia designer Tori Morrison from Strange Victory Performance. Lin teaches dance, experiential anatomy, and composition at the University of Alberta where she is also Coordinator of the MFA in Theatre Practice.
