A celebration of Jackson Studio members’ artworks.
FUSION is Jackson Studio‘s 7th Group Exhibition – a celebration of work completed by members of the studio which provides art tuition and mentoring for adults.
“I have a huge variety of members from complete beginners through to experienced artists and the title reflects my members’ cohesion, despite not all knowing each other. Our theme therefore is the fusion of ideas and enthusiasm, camaraderie and support that is shown by everyone and fostered in the studio.
For this exhibition, members have chosen the work they are most happy with, completed in the previous two years, since our last exhibition at Sidespace, or that which most aptly reflects their intention. This is an opportunity for all members to come together, meet and enjoy each others’ work, and to show it off to their friends, family and the public.
Jackson is based in a home studio and has been running in one form or another since 2014, having grown from 4 people on a Saturday morning to over 80 in any one week. There are 8 separate sessions of around 6 – 10 people plus one-on-one times available on request.
Our motto is “feel the fear and do it your way!” Experimentation is the name of the game – individuality is encouraged. Members are exposed to new artists and styles on a regular basis and have the opportunity to try many different mediums. The more we learn about artists and styles, and hear about their artistic journeys, the more we experiment, find out what we like (and don’t like) develop artistic confidence, and develop our own styles.
Each week I provide an Artist of the Week with information, videos and exercises at the start of every session (everything provided) and then after that everyone gets on with their own projects.
Each of these sessions are complete in their own right – the artist might be from anywhere in the world and any art period/movement or genre. Members are welcome to make suggestions, so each week you could be anywhere in art history – this keeps it fresh and fun!
The studio is fully stocked with oils, acrylics, watercolour, gouache, drawing materials and much more. The only items members are required to provide are their own brushes and canvases and ideas!
Jackson is suitable for anyone over 18 who is interested in art, art theory and art history and wants to have a go, no previous experience or exposure to art is necessary – and no pressure! You take as much or as little as you like – it’s up to you – beginners are most welcome, likewise those with experience who want like-minded artists to paint with and share ideas.
A slideshow will be showing on an iPad at the exhibition – so you will be able to see everyone at work in the studio plus some of our art exercises.
I am very proud of Jackson – such a great crew who support each other every step of the way, and I am thrilled to present our work to you now, I hope you enjoy the show.
Thank you.”
