An abstract approach to Bruny Island.

Simon Leah and Lana Daubermann, two artists with wildly different art practices take on the rugged and beautiful landscape of Bruny Island.ย

Simon, a decorative artist, explores the colours and textures of the coastline by hand marbling onto materials such as plaster & aluminium which are then assembled into screens, wall hangings and sculptures.

His works reference the patination of the natural world by the elements… sandstone carved by the winds, Kelp ripped from the shoreline and left to rust, driftwood make silky by time.

Lana, an accomplished oil painter, will be exhibiting canvasses painted both plein air and from her Melbourne studio. Her landscapes capture the unpredictable nature of the Islands climate. Ambling rivulets that wind to raging beaches, rocky outcrops endless slapped by the tides, angry skies that break into a smile then back into melancholy.
