Artist Statement
We are living through a time of growing uncertainty, shaped by widening inequality, conflict and rapid technological change seemingly designed to distract and divide us.
Creating simple serene ceramic sculptures is my antidote to algorithmic noise and instant gratification. A gentle protest, through stillness and calm.
I create works inspired by the ancient practices of yoga nidra and meditation which greatly help in dealing with the overwhelm I experience as a neurodivergent person living in such a fast paced and chaotic world.
I am drawn to the tactile process of hand building with clay; the slow rhythm of making becomes a meditation in itself, a practice of presence that I hope is carried into the encounter between the work and the viewer.
My work is an invitation for a pause, a slowing down, a deep breath, a sense of serenity in which time seems to slow and attention returns to the body, and to the space that we share.
These sculptures are my small offering towards a more compassionate and peaceful world. If these works create even a brief moment of peace, reflection, or quiet presence, then they have fulfilled their purpose.
