When I Grow Up – a life through song

From London stages to jazz bars in Tokyo, from Margaret River wineries to both sides of the camera, Cassandra Charlick has lived more than a few lives. In When I Grow Up, she explores the question many of us still carry: do we ever really know what we want to be?

Through story and song, Cassandra leads audiences on a heartfelt, funny and deeply relatable journey across the unexpected twists and turns of her life so far. Expect genre‑hopping, candid moments and a performer who brings warmth and authenticity to every tale. (Just don’t expect any rap, she hasn’t mastered that one yet!)

This event is for anyone who loves music woven with storytelling, and everyone who still feels like they’re figuring out this curious thing called life.

Salamanca@6 is an event series added to the Festival of Voices 2026 program, celebrating emerging and early-career singers and ensembles who are helping shape the future of Tasmanian music. At 6 pm on selected evenings during the festival, audiences are invited to the Peacock Theatre to discover fresh voices, original ideas and the next wave of local talent. It’s a welcoming space where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and artists have the chance to share new work with an audience.

By offering a range of performers the opportunity to present their work as part of Tasmania’s longest-running winter festival, Salamanca@6 supports the development of aspiring vocalists while giving audiences the chance to experience something vibrant, immediate and full of possibility. Every performance is different, with each artist bringing their own style, story and perspective. Together, these events showcase the depth of Tasmanian talent and the simple power of song to bring people together.

Make sure to also check out the other Salamanca@6 events:
