From Edinburgh to Morrocco, Perth to Borneo and Cairns to Cygnet, from couscous to haggis, tapas to pickled herrings, and now scallop pies and the best cider in Tassie – Molly Duncan‘s travel collection of abstract paintings in oil and cold wax medium is a reflection of her life well-lived and well-travelled.

Molly Duncan considers herself an accidental artist, self-taught six years ago, borne of determination to recover from major surgery and chronic pain. Cooking is her passion but since rediscovering her creativity in painting, it has taken a backstep.

As a mature painter Molly draws her inspiration from life experiences, having lived and visited many countries and settling in Tasmania just over a year ago. Her new body of work TASMANIA – THE SOUTHERN EDGE – is a collection of contemporary abstract paintings of the beautiful green landscapes, mountain backdrops, waterways and botanicals of the Huon valley.

“Making abstract art is an exciting and challenging journey where imperfections are embraced. The more I cut loose the more freedom of expression I discover in my work. Mark-making, bold strokes and colours and an ethereal touch are the signature of my workโ€.
– Molly Duncan

Molly is also addicted to online workshops to continually level up her skills and techniques.

Molly holds oil and cold wax and mixed media workshops for artists of all levels at her studio in Cygnet.

Anytime-Art workshops are also available for holiday makers, individual/couple/family who would like to include an art session in their holiday itinerary. Studio materials are included in cost. Bookings are encouraged but not essential.
