Fresh from a sold-out show at the Melbourne Tartan Festival, The Stovies bring their Highland Harmonies to Hobart — an evening of Celtic and Tasmanian folk tunes, original songs, stories and rich three-part harmonies, joined by special guest Christopher John on fiddle.
–––––
The Stovies bring their signature Highland Harmonies to the Founders Room at Salamanca Arts Centre for an evening of Celtic and Tasmanian folk music, three-part harmonies, original songs and plenty of stories along the way.
Fresh from a sold-out performance at the Melbourne Tartan Festival, Graeme McColgan, Neil Gray and Bob Connor return to Hobart with the warm, energetic live show that has become a hallmark of The Stovies.
Drawing on their Scottish roots and strong connection to Tasmania, the trio weave together traditional songs and tunes from Scotland and Ireland with Tasmanian folk music and their own original material. Expect everything from stirring ballads and beautifully blended harmonies to lively tunes and songs made for joining in.
At the heart of a Stovies show is the connection between the songs and the stories behind them — tales of home, migration, distance, friendship and the strange journey of carrying old traditions halfway around the world and making them your own.
For this special Salamanca performance, The Stovies will also be joined by special guest Christopher John on fiddle, bringing an extra burst of energy to the night’s tunes and arrangements.
Set inside the intimate Founders Room, this is a chance to experience The Stovies up close: three voices, a room full of folk music, a few good stories and perhaps the occasional bit of Scottish nonsense.
Whether you’re a lifelong folk fan, have a soft spot for Celtic music, or simply want a great night of live music in Salamanca, come and spend an evening with The Stovies.
