Artist Statement

Into The Wild is a collection of expressive landscapes and seascapes celebrating the raw beauty, shifting light, rich colour and untamed atmosphere of Tasmania’s wild places. Inspired by rugged coastlines, misty mountains, open skies and windswept landscapes, the exhibition explores the feeling of being immersed in nature. Rather than capturing specific places exactly as they appear, these paintings reflect my emotional response to the landscape and the moments of light, weather and colour that continually draw me back to it.

Through layers of paint, plaster, expressive marks and rich texture, I have tried to capture both the energy and stillness found in the natural world. There are wild seas and dramatic skies, but also quieter moments where the light breaks through, and the landscape seems to pause. Into The Wild is ultimately about our connection to nature and the sense of space, freedom and perspective it can give us. I hope these paintings offer a moment to pause, breathe and experience a little of Tasmania’s wild beauty.
