Continuum, by Katherine Cooper, explores the rich and ongoing story of Tasmanian birdlife, highlighting migration, environmental interdependence and adaptation. The exhibition celebrates the resilience and beauty of species whose lives are deeply connected to the landscapes they inhabit.

Continuum explores the enduring rhythms of nature and the intricate connections that sustain it. Focusing on Tasmanian birdlife, their migrations, adaptations, and interdependence within fragile ecosystems, the works invite a quiet contemplation of place and presence.

Rendered in watercolour, gouache, and graphite on heavy rag paper, each piece reflects a deep respect for Tasmania’s endemic species and the delicate balance they embody. Through subtle tone, layered washes, and attentive observation, these works seek not to idealise but to honour their subjects.

Continuum invites viewers to pause, to observe,  to reconnect and to ponder the unbroken conversation between subject and environment.

The works in watercolour, gouache and graphite are the result of many years of observation and appreciation.
