Arts Residency – Italy 2026

Careers

About

With the generous support of an (anonymous) individual donor, Salamanca Arts Centre is able to offer $4,000 towards the La Baldi Foundation’s Cultivate Arts Residency Program in Tuscany, Italy.

The donation will support this program for five years; from 2025 until 2029, and for 2026 Tasmanian Writers are eligible to apply.

The La Baldi Foundation manages the Cultivate arts residency program in the Monte Amiata region of Tuscany, and each year artists from all round the world participate in this multi-arts international professional development program.

Tasmanian Writers (that is, practising writers who have been living in Tasmania since 1st January 2023 and up to the date of the residency taking place in 2026) are invited to submit an Application, as the First Round in the application process. The First Round Applications will close at 10am on Monday 8th December 2025. Applications are to be submitted to Salamanca Arts Centre via the “Apply Now” button below.

Applicants will need to have an Australian Passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end date of their residency in Tuscany, and they may have to apply for a Visa as well.

The successful applicant will be provided with $4,000AUD by Salamanca Arts Centre towards the costs of travel and other related expenses. The successful applicant will also be provided with accomodation in the small, medieval village of Montegiovi by the La Baldi Foundation. In addition to this support, the successful applicant may choose to apply to other sources for additional funds, and letters of support will be provided to the successful applicant for that purpose.

It is expected that the successful applicant will take up the Residency in Tuscany between the beginning of April and the end of October 2026.  The Residency period can be from two to four weeks.
