Do you sing, dance, act, do comedy, magic or want to develop these skills?

We are looking for young (Ages 13-17) performers interested in developing skills in Cabaret and interested in performing at this years Winter Light Festival (August 11-21).

Hera Fox (She/They/Luv) is the artistic director and founder of QT Cabaret, a regular cabaret event for transgender and genderqueer individuals to find and express themselves. They have an experience in performing, writing, and directing performance art for fifteen years, having been awarded Mr Boyselque Tas 2016, Artfully Queer’s Unifying Voice 2019, and 30 under 30 Community Champion 2020. They will be curating the LGBTQIA+ youth Cabaret for Utopia Now, with a special interest in relationship dynamics (partners, friends, parents, teachers ect.) and they want to invite anyone to participate, including outside of the LGBTQIA+ community, believing “being queer isn’t just for queers anymore.”

No experience is necessary, and all you need is a seed of an idea. To apply we will have auditions, scholarships, or pay to play.

If you would like to be involved please email your name, mobile and a 50-100 word description about yourself to: performingarts@sac.org.au

The Lightbox is Salamanca Art Centre’s smallest exhibition space, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with visibility!

The Lightbox Gallery is located at the main entrance to Salamanca Art Centre on Salamanca Place and can be viewed from the street 24/7. It is the perfect space for sculpture, ceramics, small-scale installation, jewellery and so much more!

We are looking for an artist to install work that responds to this year’s Winter Light theme of renewal, visioning and realising a better future.

Want to be part of Winter Light this August at Salamanca Arts Centre?

Music Video callout!

We would like to screen music videos made by Tasmanian filmmakers and/ or Tasmanian bands/musical acts at Winter Light, 11-21 August, 2022

The Music Video can be made anytime. However, either the filmmaker or the band need to be Tasmanian (that means currently living in Tasmania and living in Tasmania at the time the video was made).

The music videos will screen in the Salamanca Arts Centre courtyard and at the Festival Hub throughout the festival.

At the end of the festival we will have a special screening of 12 shortlisted music videos that will be competing for two prizes:

The People’s Choice Award
The winner will receive $500 cash from MyState Bank. This award will be voted by you, the makers, the players, and the audience. Votes will need to be made in person at the Festival Hub.
