Winter Light – Music Video callout

  • Jobs

Want to be part of Winter Light this August at Salamanca Arts Centre?

Music Video callout!

We would like to screen music videos made by Tasmanian filmmakers and/ or Tasmanian bands/musical acts at Winter Light, 11-21 August, 2022

The Music Video can be made anytime. However, either the filmmaker or the band need to be Tasmanian (that means currently living in Tasmania and living in Tasmania at the time the video was made).

The music videos will screen in the Salamanca Arts Centre courtyard and at the Festival Hub throughout the festival.

At the end of the festival we will have a special screening of 12 shortlisted music videos that will be competing for two prizes:

Best Tasmanian Music Video
This award is sponsored by Wide Angle Tasmania and Salamanca Arts Centre. With the winner receiving $500 of free equipment hire from Wide Angle Tasmania and free use of a Salamanca Arts Centre venue for filming. This award will be judged by Industry peers.

The People’s Choice Award
The winner will receive $500 cash from MyState Bank. This award will be voted by you, the makers, the players, and the audience. Votes will need to be made in person at the Festival Hub.

Applications close 11 July 2022
For more information email Lucien Simon  at: performingarts@sac.org.au

Please note: With the awards either the Filmmaker or the band need to be based in Tasmania. The award will be given to the Tasmanian applicant. If both the band and filmmaker are Tasmanian then the award will be shared evenly by both.

This project is supported by Wide Angle and MyState

Callout for Band Merch and Music

Winter Light is approaching this August and as part of the festival we want your merch! CD’s, vinyl pressings  – whatever you’ve got!

During Winter Light we will be setting up a festival hub and running an exclusive Tasmanian band merchandise store throughout the festival. We are looking for local independent bands and labels, that have CD’s, vinyl, tapes, t-shirts, records, tote bags and everything else that we can sell for you.

We are not only wanting your merch but we also want you to promote your albums/EP’s by doing in-store performances at the Festival Hub. Strip it back, throw a hat out, perform your music, and sell some albums!

Taking expressions of interest from musicians now! Spaces are limited so please send through your EOI’s via the link below with what you want to sell and if you want to perform in this space.
