 n“I was born and raised in Korea\, and came to Australia over 20 years
  ago\, following my husband who had come here to study. Since then\, I h
 ave developed my art career in this country and learned how to express m
 yself through art.\n\n\n\nJust before the COVID-19 pandemic began five y
 ears ago\, I returned to Korea and continued my art practice there—unt
 il I came back to Australia last year.\n\n\n\nMy work is rooted in Korea
 n aesthetics\, but it aims to express the emotions I’ve experienced wh
 ile living between Korea and Australia.\n\n\n\nThere is joy and happines
 s in life here\, but also sorrow and a sense of longing that comes from 
 being an outsider. When I returned to Korea\, I felt similar emotions—
 familiar\, yet strangely distant. Though I was born Korean\, I had becom
 e used to life in Australia\, and Korea began to feel unfamiliar.\n\n\n\
 nAs a resident artist at CAT this time\, I wanted to explore and express
  these feelings in my work. Feelings that are beautiful and joyful—but
