Using CNC machinery\, sustainably sourc ed timbers and recycled materials are transformed into wall sculptures o f alluring shape and depth.\n\n\n\nLaserScapes is an exploratory exhibit ion that delves into the intersection of intentional design and the beau ty of unexpected outcomes. The works presented explore the precision of mathematics and geometry\, whilst also playing with the unpredictability of experimentation and chance.  \;\n\n\n\nThe pieces in this exhibi tion are made up of both intentionally designed artworks\, and "Accident al Art" - sculptures created from assembled "waste" layers. \; The i ntentional artworks are designed digitally\, and then cut using a laser cutter. Each piece is comprised of multiple layers that are then assembl ed to create a precise and visually refined artwork\, the layers providi ng depth and complexity. \;\n\n\n\nThe unintentional pieces are just as intriguing\, yet their creation process is quite different. These pi eces are made by combining discarded layers from artworks that haven't t urned out as intended. This can be due to either machine or human error\ , and the result is a damaged\, incorrectly cut\, or wrongly sized end l ayer. When this happens\, the 'waste' layers are placed aside\, and then every so often are brought together and assembled into unintentional ar tworks. As all of the original designs created are centred around geomet ry and precision\, the waste layers that are then used for “accidental art” still retain a sense of harmony and balance. These unexpected co mpositions reveal a raw beauty in spontaneity\, and offers a powerful re minder of the creative potential in failure and waste.  \;\n\n\n\nTh ese ideas are further explored by the choice of materials used. \; T he artworks are made from an assortment of sustainably harvested and sal vaged timbers\, including locally sourced Huon Pine\, storm felled Austr alia Red Cedar\, and assorted reclaimed veneers. \; As well as using different natural mediums\, the artists also embrace the use of upcycle d materials such as corflute from political campaigns.\n\n\n\nBy juxtapo sing precision beside imperfection\, this exhibition invites audiences t o consider the aesthetic and environmental value of reuse\, and to engag e with digital technology in unexpected\, playful ways. We live in a cul ture that discards with ease\, often overlooking the creative potential in what’s been cast aside. By using technology like a laser cutter to transform remnants into engaging artworks\, this project sparks new ways of thinking about waste.
