e Artists engaged with the humble dress and it’s symbolism\, through r
 euse\, reimagining\, questioning patterns and breaking them.Connecting i
 n the act of yarning\, cutting\, printing\, painting\, stitching\, sculp
ting\, firing\, lighting. Stories and meaning evolved and were shared in
the work - ENTWINED.–––––Aukje Boonstra is a textile artist.
Ever since her art practice started in the late nineties\, she has been
fascinated by the process of botanical dyeing and transforming salvaged
clothing into sustainable couture.\n\n\n\nWhat people wear can tell us a
 bout culture\, style\, personal taste\, history\, religion\, mourning an
d celebrating. A uniform tells its own story.\n\n\n\nDiscarded clothing
carries memories from all who have worn them. She transforms these memor
ies into new garments and art works through stitch\, being ENWINED with
the past and into the future.–––––\n\n\n\nUlrike Hora is a scu
lptural ceramicist working in porcelain and stoneware. Her creating proc
ess is an evolving story unfolding as she develops her pieces. In this w
ay of ‘making’\, her ideas\, her concepts and reflections ‘morphâ€
˜ into the final work.\n\n\n\nTo find a ceramic language for ENTWINED sh
e developed her own technique of incorporating discarded threads\, knits
and weaves into translucent porcelain. The fitted lights highlight the
internal structures and reveal the embodied materials.\n\n\n\nHigh tempe
rature firing\, in a solar powered kiln\, transform her seemingly fragil
e ‘wet rags’ into thin and strong sculptures. Environmental impact i
 s reduced through repurposing\, recycling\, reusing\, reimagining and en
 twining.–––––\n\n\n\nGrietje van Randen continuously questions
what\, why and how\, both in relation to the purpose of the work and th
e materials used in her arts practice. A body of work starts either with
(repurposed) materials\, a particular technique\, something seen or som
ething heard and often results in an analogy to life’s questions\, giv
ing the viewer time to pause\, become aware or reflect.\n\n\n\nThe work
created for ENTWINED contemplates how a person’s past\, culture\, fami
ly and other connections influence who they are and what they do. Playin
g with inherited blocks of wood\, furniture\, stamps\, felted jumpers an
d using a printing press built from recycled materials\, Grietje has cre
ated a diverse body of work that connects the viewer with Grietje’s li
fe\, serious but infused with fun.\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\nAcces
