20265:00pm – 7:00pmPresented within the historic sandstone walls of S
alamanca Arts Centre\, Continuum brings together a comprehensive selecti
on of John Wren’s work\, spanning from his earliest explorations to hi
s most recent and resolved paintings.–––––\n\n\n\nThe exhibiti
on traces the arc of a sustained creative life\, revealing shifts in tec
hnique\, scale\, subject and confidence that define the development of a
rigorous artistic practice. Early works expose a raw instinct\; bold ge
stures\, restless surfaces\, and an urgency to understand material. As t
he work unfolds\, mark-making becomes more deliberate\, compositions mor
e assured\, and a distinct visual language begins to emerge.\n\n\n\nOper
ating slightly outside the traditional art world\, Wren has developed hi
s practice with a high degree of independence\, free from rigid expectat
ions\, and guided instead by instinct\, discipline\, and an ongoing comm
itment to exploration. Rather than presenting a singular style\, Continu
um embraces multiplicity. It reveals an artist unafraid of change\; one
who revisits\, reworks and reimagines. Structure and abstraction exist i
n constant dialogue\, each informing and challenging the other\, creatin
 g a dynamic tension that underpins the work.\n\n\n\nSet within a space s
teeped in Tasmanian cultural history\, the exhibition becomes a quiet co
nversation between past and present. The enduring architecture mirrors t
 he artist’s own trajectory\, marked by persistence\, transformation\,
and time.\n\n\n\nContinuum invites viewers to move through the gallery c
hronologically or intuitively\, encountering not only resolved works\, b
ut the thinking and evolution behind them. Both retrospective and renewa
l\, it offers a moment to pause\, reflect\, and recognise the cumulative
force of a practice in constant motion.\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\
