pm - 7:00pm\n\n\n\nPhoebe Wood-Ingram's latest solo painting exhibition
is about landscape change and the role of nature as a crucible of stilln
ess.In But I am still and you are still artist Phoebe Wood-Ingram paints
of the place she grew up in and loves. Mallacoota\, Victoria\, describe
d by poet EJ Brady as an 'Australian Arcadia'\, is a land of calm lakes
and hills. The paintings look with tenderness on these important water w
ays in her life. \n\n\n\nPrompted by bush fire's effect on the landscap
e that was a source of exploration to her as a child\, Phoebe wanted to
mark the area's importance to her. At Double Creek\, a walking trail pro
gresses from temperate rainforest through melaleuca forest to an open we
tland at the beginning of a vast lake system. This walking trail and its
endpoint at the lake has been a ritual walk for her over 40 years. Thes
e works explore the survival of a calm emptiness of space and momentous
still\, through application of oil paint for depth intensity and quiet.Â
\n\n\n\nThese works are about loss and renewal while pivoting around th
e open sense of space and peace. The landscape changes\, but the places
are still there offering refuge and solace.\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n
