THREE FREE DAYS OF LIVE-ART, MUSIC AND MISCHIEF-MAKING!
From Friday 30 March until Sunday 1 April 2012, artists, performers and musicians, will invade the Salamanca precinct, creating a series of FREE, fun, playful and participative events that engage with SAC buildings and the people (past, present and future) who inhabit them.
THE BIG WEEKEND has been masterminded by three collaborating artists who cut their professional performance-making teeth in and around Salamanca Arts Centre – Martyn Coutts (Is Theatre, Field Theory, Aphids and LaLa) Ian Pidd (The Village arts precinct at the Falls Festivals, Junction Arts Festival and Snuff Puppets) and Sam Routledge (Men of Steel, My Darling Patricia). Their vision for THE BIG WEEKEND is fun, inclusive, subversive and just a little bit idealistic—which means that it’s got a lot in common with the vision of the artists and community advocates who dreamed up and drove SAC in the first place.
